Full-time Public Works Assistant Mechanic

The Department of Public Works is seeking a full time Asst. Mechanic
The Assistant Mechanic, under direction, will assist the Mechanic in his function, and in his absence, will continue to perform various mechanical work that the Mechanic performs, and does other Public Work assignments as required by his superiors.
A valid NJ CDL Class B with Air Brake endorsement Driver’s License is required as well as knowledge and ability to operate Heavy vehicles and equipment, light duty dump trucks, pickups, snow plows, salt spreaders, power tools, chain saws, and hand tools, etc. The ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions and work independently is required.
The candidate, if required, is expected to work in all type of weather conditions. Safety procedures and practices are required, as well as wearing safety equipment. The candidate must be available to for emergencies 24/7 such as snowfall, floods, downed trees and any public safety related event.
Applicant should have a High School Diploma and be certified in Diesel Engine Repair. Knowledge of hydraulics, welding, fabrication, electrical systems and general vehicle maintenance is a plus.
Tools must be supplied by the employee.

Class Two Special Police Officers
The Mantua Township Police Department is currently accepting applications for Class Two Special Police Officers.
1. Currently certified by the NJ Police Training Commission as a Class 2 Officer
2. Is a citizen of the United States and a resident of New Jersey
3. Is able to read, write and speak the English language well and intelligently
4. Is of good moral character and has not been convicted of any criminal offense involving moral turpitude
5. Possess a valid NJ driver’s license.
6. An offer of employment is contingent upon a favorable background check, drug screen, as well as a medical and psychological examination.
General patrol duties
Back up support for police officers
Security / spectator control at special events
Municipal building and facilities security
Arrestee processing and transportation
Municipal Court security
Officers will be required to work between 15-25 hours per week, usually during the evening, but also some weekend days and Mondays during Court. Class 2 officers are compensated at $18.00 per hour.
