IMPORTANT PUBLIC NOTICE – BLIZZARD WARNING
IMPORTANT PUBLIC NOTICE – BLIZZARD WARNING
WINTER STORM UPDATE:
Weather forecasters are calling for a Severe Winter Storm causing hazardous weather conditions.
Beginning this morning on Sunday, February 22, 2026 and continuing through Monday, February 23, 2026, we are forecasted to experience a severe winter storm causing hazardous weather conditions including blizzard-like conditions with wind gusts up-to 55 miles per hour, and snow accumulations ranging from 12 to 24 inches. As a result of this storm, the Governor has declared a State of Emergency beginning today – Sunday, February 22, 2026 at 12:00 p.m.
Due to anticipated snowfall, trash collection scheduled for Monday, February 23, 2026, has been rescheduled to Tuesday, February 24, 2026.
All other trash collection days will remain on their regular schedule unless otherwise announced through the Township’s official website (www.mantuatownship.com) or social media channels. Please note that weather conditions may still cause delays. Only Monday’s collection is affected at this time.
Township Municipal Offices for non-essential personnel along with the Mantua Township Regional Municipal Court and Court Offices will be closed for business on Monday, February 23, 2026. Non emergency calls pertaining to public works and snow related matters should be directed to (856) 468-1500 and “press 0.” This number will be monitored on Monday, February 23rd during business hours. For all emergencies dial 911.
Please be reminded that there is NO PARKING on any township street during a snowstorm or during a snow emergency when snow removal equipment is in use. We kindly ask residents to remove ALL motor vehicles, portable basketball nets, boats, and recreational vehicles, etc. from our streets to allow our public works department to safely and effectively plow in a timely manner.
Vehicles parked on roadways will get plowed in, and will prevent our crews from safely and properly clearing the roads near your home. You may also be subjecting yourselves to ticketing and towing.
Residents, landscapers, and private snow removal contractors are reminded to allow the Public Works Department to complete municipal snow removal operations before beginning private snow removal services. Residential snow removal should wait until snowfall has ended and plow trucks have fully cleared the roadway before clearing sidewalks, driveways, aprons, or performing other snow removal work.
Please note that snow must not be pushed, plowed, or blown back into the street. Placing snow into the roadway creates hazardous driving conditions.
If roadway access is absolutely necessary before municipal snow removal is complete due to an urgent situation, please exercise extreme caution and avoid placing snow into the street.
We appreciate the cooperation of all residents, landscapers, and snow removal contractors in helping keep Mantua Township’s streets safe and passable during this winter weather event.
– Expect curbside mailboxes and driveway aprons, etc. to be blocked with plowed snow – this is unavoidable! We plow snow to clear roadway passage. We don’t haul it away.
– Our township code requires that sidewalks be cleared of snow and ice within 24 hours after snowfall. If frozen with ice to the point of making removal impractical, sidewalks must be covered thoroughly with sand, salt or cinders within 24 hours after snowfall or before the same has formed thereon.
Chestnut Branch Park will be closed until the conclusion of the storm, and the parking lot will not be accessible until it has been completely cleared and is deemed to be safe for vehicular traffic.
There is absolutely NO parking along Main Street near Chestnut Branch Park. This area is posted with temporary ‘no parking signs’ and will be strictly enforced by our police department. Those who choose to park illegally will be ticketed by our police department, as this is a major public safety concern with the high volume of sledders coming into the area. You have been forewarned!
We are asking that you stay home during storm activity, and do not travel unless absolutely necessary. Remember, there is a State of Emergency beginning today at 12 noon. It is strongly advisable that only essential personnel access roadways until this executive order is lifted.
As your Mayor, I’m asking for your full cooperation and patience throughout this snow event. Please don’t inundate our team with unnecessary calls and complaints. This doesn’t help – it just pulls our workers away from the essential clean-up process. When we work together, we keep Mantua safe!
Respectfully,
Mayor Bob Zimmerman
