Project Medicine Drop

For too many New Jerseyans, addiction begins in the medicine cabinet. The Mantua Township Police Department participates in Project Medicine Drop, a statewide program developed by the New Jersey Division of Consumer Affairs to halt the abuse and diversion of prescription drugs.

A locked drop box is installed in our lobby at 405 Main Street. Look for the prominent Project Medicine Drop logos. Anyone can drop off unused or expired medications safely, securely, and anonymously. No questions asked.

Hours: Available 7 days a week, 365 days a year. After 4:30 PM on weekdays and all weekends/holidays, use the red phone in the vestibule to contact dispatch at (856) 589-0911 and an officer will let you in.

This initiative builds on the success of the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration’s National Take Back Initiative and the American Medicine Chest Challenge. While those programs provide single-day drop-off opportunities, Project Medicine Drop allows you to discard unused medications every day throughout the year.

All deposited medications are disposed of according to established procedures for controlled dangerous substances and reported to the Division of Consumer Affairs quarterly.
