On May 19th, Mantua hosted its free monthly Senior Dinner at the Community Center on E. Mercer Avenue.
Mayor Bob Zimmerman, Deputy Mayor Eileen Lukens, Committeeman Jack Steen and Committeeman Jay Snyder attended the dinner.
Our Recreation Committee led by Regina DeWitt and Deputy Clerk Pam LeVine paved the way for another incredible evening enjoyed by all.
Santini’s provided the delicious dinner which included a Salad, Meatballs & Penne Pasta and a Lemon Cupcake from Tracy’s Treats of Santini’s.We recognized Mantua’s long-time senior, Joan Herron who sadly passed away peacefully on May 8th at the age of 86. Joan was one of the original founders who started the cooking for our seniors many years ago, and was still a regular at Mantua Senior Dinners.
Joan’s family sponsored last night’s dinner for close to 100 in attendance. We are truly grateful for this kind gesture!
“Our thoughts and prayers are with Joan’s family during this most difficult time. We were blessed to have her as an active member of our community and as an advocate for our senior citizen residents. Our community is a much better place because of Joan Herron.” – Mayor Bob Zimmerman
