Department Overview

Emergency Management protects our community by coordinating and integrating all activities necessary to build, sustain, and improve the capability to mitigate against, prepare for, respond to, and recover from threatened or actual natural disasters, acts of terrorism, or other man-made disasters.

The biggest help in any emergency is you. Plan ahead so you and your family are prepared.

  • Get an Emergency Kit
  • Have a predetermined location to stay in the case you need to evacuate your home
  • Have a predetermined plan for your pets. Many are not allowed in shelters

Items to Consider for your Emergency Kit

  • Three days’ supply of canned, non-perishable, ready-to-eat food
  • Three days’ supply of water (a total of three gallons per family member)
  • Battery-operated radioand extra batteries
  • flashlightand extra batteries
  • One week’s prescription medications
  • First aid kit
  • Personal toiletries
  • Non-electric can opener and utensils
  • Store important documentsin a waterproof, safe location
  • Generator if your house depends on well water or sump pump
