February is Heart Awareness Month
At Monday night’s Township Committee Meeting, Deputy Mayor Bob Zimmerman presented resident, Thomas Turk with a Township Proclamation recognizing February as “American Heart Month.”
Is April of 2018, Mr. Turk at the age of 40, was diagnosed with a 99% blockage in the right coronary artery of his heart. A medical procedure saved Mr. Turk’s life.
Deputy Mayor Zimmerman, at the age of 46, had life saving open heart surgery in 2012. He had a 98% blockage in the left anterior descending artery of his heart.
Deputy Mayor Zimmerman and Mr. Turk are helping to spread the awareness of heart disease.
Pictured with Mr. Turk is his wife, Courtney who happens to be a Physician’s Assistant and understands the importance of awareness and educating the public of health related diseases such as heart disease, and recognizing the signs and symptoms. Mrs. Turk suggests that, “You listen to your body.” And, jokingly stated, “That you should listen to your wife.”
