Mantua’s Deck the House!

Get ready to unwrap the joy of the season as Mantua Township proudly presents its 2nd Annual Deck the House Challenge! It’s time to transform your homes into dazzling displays of festive cheer and join in the fun with your fellow Mantua Township residents.

Mantua Township is happy to extend an invitation to all residents of Mantua Township, NJ, to be a part of this celebration!*

Before you join in on this jolly journey, make sure you read this page in its entirety for complete rules, regulations, and other essential information to make your festive transformation a success!

Sign-Ups (Registration Deadline Extended!): Mantua Township residents* can sign up from Monday, November 4, 2024, at 9:00 AM through Saturday, November 30, 2024, at 11:59 PM. During registration, participants will select one of the following categories for their display, which cannot be changed later:

• Most Colorful Display
• Most Classic Display
• Most Original Display
• Best Inflatables Display

First-place winners will be chosen in each category, and one Overall Best Decorated – Grand Prize winner will be selected from these category winners.

Decoration Deadline: All decorations must be completed by Monday, December 2, 2024, at 5:00 PM, when a representative from the Township’s Digital Media Department will photograph the displays for voting.

Public Voting (Preliminary Round): From Tuesday, December 3, 2024, at 9:00 AM to Friday, December 13, 2024, at 11:59 PM, the public can vote for their top three displays in each category.

Senior Voting (Final Round): On Monday, December 16, 2024, Mantua Township Seniors will visit the top three displays in each category based on the public’s opinion to determine the first-place winners and the Overall Best Decorated – Grand Prize winner.

Winners and Awards: Winners will be notified via email on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, and must confirm attendance for the awards ceremony, where Santa Claus and the Mayor will present the awards at the participants home on Thursday, December 19, 2024.

Registration Deadline: Saturday, November 30, 2024, at 11:59 PM. (Registration Deadline Extended!)

Eligibility and Judging Criteria:

• Judging will take place on-site at each participant’s home.
• Judges will evaluate based on creativity, special effects, lighting, and theme within each category.
• Participants may only register in one category, chosen at sign-up.
• Only Mantua Township residents may participate.*

Safety and Environmental Guidelines:

• Decorations should not obstruct fire safety equipment or walkways.
• To protect the environment, please refrain from using balloons in displays.
• Displays must be visible from the street.

Noise and Sound Limitations:

• Participants using music or sound effects are encouraged to keep volume levels moderate to avoid disrupting neighbors.

Weather Considerations:

•  In case of severe weather, Mantua Township reserves the right to reschedule in-person judging or modify the timeline for any event-related activities. Participants will be notified via email.

Participant Permissions:

• All participants agree to have their decorated homes photographed and displayed on Mantua Township’s social media platforms and official websites, including addresses.
• By participating, all entrants agree to allow the Township to use images of their homes for future promotional materials for this and related events.
• Participants should uphold friendly competition and refrain from disparaging others’ displays in any public forums, online spaces, or in person. Any evidence of unsportsmanlike conduct will result in disqualification.

Other Regulations:

• Professional decorators are not permitted for this contest.
• Mantua Township is not liable for any incidents or accidents arising from participation in Deck the House.
• The judges’ decisions are final.

*The following individuals are not eligible to enter or win, even if such individuals meet the residency requirements set forth above: Employees of Mantua Township (full-time, part-time, and temporary) and their immediate family members.
